Where I Find Slow Fashion Brands For More Affordable Prices

Sustainable fashion brands are expensive compared to fast fashion. As a sustainable fashion creator & educator, I believe we need to reframe our mindset around affordability in fashion—fast fashion pushes us to buy more, doesn’t last as long, and isn’t affordable for garment workers or the planet.

That said, money can be tight and sometimes we simply can’t afford sustainable brands full price. So, this is my list of places where I find slow fashion at deep discounts.

Keep in mind that even deeply-discounted ethical brands will still be more expensive than ultra fast fashion, but will be comparable to the pricing you see in malls (and maybe better).

This post contains some affiliate and referral links to secondhand and slow fashion platforms. I may make a small commission or also receive referral credit if you sign up through these links.

Buy Sell Trade Groups (Facebook)

In these groups on FB, you can find like-minded people selling/swapping their pieces. These are my favorite groups:

Me wearing a gingham set while looking out at Plaza de España in Sevilla
I got these gingham Linenfox pants for $70 from the All Things Linen BST group (retail $125 including shipping)

Secondhand apps/platforms

I got these Patagonia shorts for $42 on eBay (retail $100 including shipping)

Discount platforms

Choose App features a rotation of slow fashion brands with discounted drops. You can keep an eye out for your favorite brand or discover new ones. They also have home goods & skincare.

Sadly, they are no longer operating in the US and now are only in France, where their HQ is.

I got this Doodlage dress for $54 on Choose (retail $200)

Swapping

Lucky Sweater is an app specifically for slow fashion exchanges. I haven’t tried them yet, but they’re on my list.

Also keep an eye out on social media for local clothing swaps, especially in big cities. I usually learn about them in Buy Nothing groups or on local sustainability IG pages.

Sales from sustainable brands

Some sustainable brands have an annual or seasonal sales. Keep an eye out around major holidays and sign up for their newsletters (but unsubscribe if it makes you want to buy more).

Check out my ethical brand directory for my favorites.
